  • Proposal: two Brand and Generic text only extensions on Medication, MedicationRequest, MedicationDispense
    • Need for text only brand/generic names?  ETP, MyHR? 
    • Medication[xx].code.text is "Plain text representation of the concept" could be either branded/unbranded : we possibly need both
    • Medication[xx].code.coding has the http://build.fhir.org/ig/hl7au/au-fhir-base/StructureDefinition-medication-type.html extension to define if branded/unbranded and level
      
    • Is there any constraint on the text only entries? i.e. product, form, package, strength? - do we need to include a level like  http://build.fhir.org/ig/hl7au/au-fhir-base/StructureDefinition-medication-type.html  for codes
  • PBS Manufacturer two letter code
    • draft http://build.fhir.org/ig/hl7au/au-fhir-base/StructureDefinition-au-pbs-pharma-manufacturer.html
    • two letter code at Organization.identifier - confirm it is an identifier; this is not a coding rather an organization listing (address/contact) + placeholder URL unconfirmed
    • reference by logical identifier possible for Medication.manufacturer to get just the two letter code without an Organization resource

  • Extension: generic name text - extension only in AU base; not included in resource profiles; so can be used in derived profiles
  • Extension: trade product name text - extension only in AU base; not included in resource profiles
  • these extensions only apply to Medication - keep simple case simple
